Wisconsin School Choice & Open Enrollment: Parent Guide
For parents who want clarity—not spin.
Wisconsin school choice and open enrollment
Direct answer: Wisconsin families may have multiple paths beyond their assigned neighborhood school, including inter-district open enrollment and state choice programs that change with law and funding. Deadlines, transportation, and special-education rules matter. Always verify current rules on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) site before you make housing or application decisions.
After you shortlist schools, use parent ratings on GradeYourSchool to compare lived experience—not just brochures.
